Humphrey is a quiet yet confident boy who likes to observe things. He came to our office late, but he impressed us with his intelligence and his eagerness to learn and grasp everything that is bought his way.
Humphrey comes from Chakumba village, in the Nsefu chiefdom. Currently, their village has been affected by flooding and to get there, they use very unsafe banana boats that are not motorised and have to be paddled.
Humphrey's father took care of all their family needs, but his chances of going to school where shattered when his father died in a road accident five years ago.
Humphrey has been given a place in a boarding school where he will have the opportunity to stay focused and study with his peers. He will be away from home where a meal is not guaranteed. His family has been to our office and they have told us about the struggles that they face in the village, and how Humphrey going to school will provide them all with faith that he will get a good future and make something of himself.
