Philimon has not seen his father since he was a baby. His mother married giving him a stepfather and later two half-sisters, but unfortunately the step father died when Philimon was 6 years old leaving his wife with three children to support. Then sadly Philimon’s mother died in May last year. After her death he stayed with his grandfather for some months until he had completed his Certificate of Primary Education exams last November.
Philimon was then sent to live with his Great Aunt and Uncle who also care for one of his half-sisters, two aunts, an uncle, and two of his cousins. In the past we have sponsored his aunt through school and on to college and now she is teaching at the local secondary school as a volunteer. She is waiting to be deployed by the Government as a teacher. This means that until she finds a job the family survives by subsistence farming.
